Samantha K
Copywriter
Multi-skilled marketer who can develop and execute content plans, optimised for SEO as well as capture videos and photos.
Summary
For the past nine years, Samantha has been working as a freelance copy and editorial writer. During this time she has built a diverse portfolio of work for over 50 clients across disparate industries, including Eftpos, Lonely Planet, the Gold Coast City Council, the Huffington Post, and Queensland Health. She's had the great honour of seeing her words on art gallery walls, shampoo bottles, a coffee table book, the sides of a bus, and many websites.
Prior to this, Samantha worked in various roles across Sydney and the Gold Coast in marketing, digital content, and partnerships — both brand and agency side.
Experience
Experience OZ
Head of Brand and Strategy (2019 - 2022)
Experience Oz is Australia’s leading supplier of domestic travel experiences. This role initially involved a 6-month rebrand - creating a new positioning for the business that appealed to a wider audience, and reinvigorating a team of five.
Since November Samantha has been working on this task remotely as the team now executes the brand successfully with little to no direction.
Monsoon Blooms
Co-Founder (2017 - 2022)
Monsoon Blooms is an ethical clothing company founded by Samantha and her husband to support the ancient Ayurvedic plant dyeing tradition of Ayurvastra. Although the brand is still in its infancy, they are encouraged by its early success and excited to see it blossom.
The Slow
Public Relations Manager (2017 - 2019)
For two years Samantha managed all facets of public relations for The Slow, a boutique arts hotel in Bali, Indonesia. This job was carried out remotely and involved writing press releases, branded copy, social media content, and website copy, as well as liaising with a never-ending list of social influencers and media outlets.
inbali.org
Editor (2014 - 2015)
Working for inBali.org saw Samantha managing the editorial contributions of a team of 15 writers; ensuring the site’s content was relevant, well written and optimised for SEO. She also worked in partnership development and sales with the assistance of my Sub-Editor. Her hiatus from this role was due to a change in ownership and funding of the website.
Letz Live
Content and Partnerships Manager (2013 - 2015)
Letz Live is the leading provider of overseas Gap Year placements in Australia. In this role, Samantha developed a complete marketing and content strategy; assembled a branding analysis and overhaul; established a new sector of volunteer placements; and managed a suite of international video content, including pre and post-production and on-the-road film direction.
Contiki Holidays
Content and Partnerships Executive (2012 - 2013)
After a three-month stint of aimless backpacking, Samantha landed her first role in the travel industry. Working with Contiki Holidays gave her a deep insight into youth marketing and digital content. Her love for writing was well fostered by the global marketing team, and she was able to write much of the global social content, campaign copy and brochure segments.
Once leaving her full-time role with Contiki, she continued to work for them in a freelance capacity, going on to be a lead writer for their internationally distributed print brochures and one of the only writers involved in their 2016 website overhaul.
Bamboo Marketing Agency
Account Executive (2011 - 2011)
Established in 2004, Bamboo Marketing agency is an independent, award-winning shopper experience agency with a unique uncomplicated, collaborative way of thinking and working. It’s a simple philosophy, but few agencies do it. They do, and they have a track record to prove it.
